John Cameron Mitchell’s androgynous rock musical makes its Broadway debut, fronted by Neil Patrick Harris.
The musical follows genderqueer East German immigrant Hedwig Robinson as she tells her life story over the course of a concert. Drawing on elements of Mitchell’s own life and featuring music steeped with glam rock influences, the gritty cult-hit makes its way to Broadway nearly 20 years after its debut.
